Amy Arotca, OTR/L
I have been an occupational therapist since 2016 and have worked in schools, early intervention and outpatient pediatric services.
My style is gentle, approachable, and playful.
I have advanced training in sensory integration, sensory based feeding intervention, self-regulation training and handwriting intervention.
I have two daughters that keep me busy and continue to teach me so much every day! When I am not at work you can find me working on a house project, trying a new recipe, or at a playground with my girls.
More information about my style:
Therapeutic Relationship: I always work to build a relationship with the child and family and establish connection, trust, and rapport. I‘ve found a strong relationship is a great foundation for a child to feel comfortable taking risks, facing challenges, and being open to new ideas.
Home based services: I want to meet families where they are and walk with them through the next small steps toward their goals. This means literally - I want to see families in their home or community, so we can work directly on the most important parts of their day.
Functional and Meaningful Goals: I am passionate about working toward functional goals to improve everyday activities. So many important things happen in the home: dressing, using the bathroom, feeding, leaving the house for an outing, saying goodbye to a parent, cleaning up, transitioning between activities, handling unexpected changes, and so much more! I want to work on the real, important, ordinary parts of the day, to make things a little bit easier for the child and family.
Parent Coaching: My style includes the parent in evaluation and treatment whenever possible. Treatment includes ideas and strategies to use at home to support the child’s goal areas. I believe the parent is the expert of their child and the most impactful person in a child’s development.
Neuro-affirming services: My goal is to help children understand and love their unique brain and body, and for parents to delight in their wonderful child.
